New Adventure Week: Part 1

So this past week has been quite the whirlwind. My classes started and I started work at Macy's!!! On top of that, Eric's parent's were in town visiting and stayed Thursday through today, Sunday. Many, many new things happened this week. Let me break it down for you...it's going to be a Two-Parter.

First, work!! My first day of work was Tuesday, May 29th. At Macy's I work part time between 4 to 8 hours each shift and an average of 20 hours per week. I am still on the job hunt for job #2, but this is a great start :) Last week was a lot of intense training, and by intense I mean extensive video-training. Most of the time I was sitting at a computer watching the screen talk at me and show me things that I won't understand until I actually do them. It was a good overview though: ordering supplies, scheduling employees, printing reports, communicating to the store, Macy's history (which is pretty interesting I should add), Macy's dress code (which I was 100% out of dress code the day I learned about the dress code, woops!), and so on. The position is basically the go-to person for every single employee in the store. We don't need to know all of the answers but need to know where to find all the answers. Have a benefits question? We'll tell you who to call. Have an issue with your schedule? Call us and we'll tell you what to do next. Need to know your selling goals for the day? Here, let me get the report printed and get you geared up for a big day of sales!!!

Second, school!! Wow am I excited for school. Last week seemed very long at the time. It was a little wishy-washy because it's the first week, the syllabus was recently changed, and kit-day was kind of crazy. Luckily I remember from Douglas J that kit-day was always a hot mess no matter how prepared you try to be, but it's a great day for students regardless! It's like getting a gigantic, expensive Christmas present (even though you paid for it yourself it's still a great feeling). Our kits are given to us in two parts. The first half includes the basics that we will be using for the next few weeks like brushes/combs, scissors, blow dryer, course materials, etc. Next month we will get the second half which will have our flat iron, more tools, mirrors, probably more books, tools for nails/skin care services, etc. Next week we  have our first model!!! The beautiful Shannon is going to get a "New Broom Blowout" on her hair, which is essentially just using a blow dryer and paddle brush to dry hair straight and down. Kind of like this :)

Wish me luck next week for Week #2 of classes!!
