I got a job!!!!!!
It's definitely a start to something great. I will working with the Admin Team at Macy's :))) I am pretty excited to be working for what seems to be a great company. It actually has a major sustainable background and future environmental initiatives that are very exciting to me. They making them measurable and time-specific; that way every year or so they can see how successful they were at meeting their goal and then make new ones. Anyway, my job will entail many admin responsibilities like balancing register reports, ordering supplies, monitoring store inventory, monitoring open/closed positions available in the store, and I am sure many, many more things. It is part-time and perfect for one job. I am still in the process of looking for a second job and I have 2 hopefuls right now. If I can get one more well-paying job I will feel even better, and once that happens I can get my own place, and life will be complete. For now, I am still happily and thankfully and appreciatevly (not a word, I know) living with Shannon and Eric.
It's been over a week since I have posted because I have been busy with interviewing, applying for even more jobs, and going on adventures. Here are some highlights of the last week:
A view from Vista Parkway Bridge in Goose Hollow |
Portland consists of many different districts. Above, this photo is taken from Goose Hollow, a super-duper cutsie district that we are all in love with. The district is so close to downtown Portland (seen in the photo) and immediately right next to the Alphabet District which has it's own, smaller downtown. In this photo if you look close enough you can see the top of Mt. Hood, it is just off-center to the right...you can see the peak coming out from beside on of the buildings.
Kennedy Elementary School - actually a hotel! |
Wait, what? A hotel? I am telling you that an Ele. School was rennovated into a hotel? Yes! And it's pretty frickin' cool. We didn't go to the school to stay in the hotel, but instead we went to take part in a film festival since, of course, there is a theatre inside this beautiful place. It was Q Doc: The Portland Queer Documentary Film Festival. Q Doc is "the only festival in the United State, and only second in the world devoted exclusively to queer documentaries." Can you believe that? It's a multi-day festival showing a huge range of films - funnies, criers, and everything in between. We only went on the last day to the last show titled Vito. Vito Russo was to New York City as Harvey Milk was to San Fransisco. Vito Russo was one of the largest key players in history that makes my life a little bit easier today. I also decided to purchase his book, The Celluloid Closet, which discuss the portrayal of homosexuality in the movies! And when I say movies, I'm talking old Hollywood classics with Hepburn, Hudson, etc.
Okay, no more fun facts or reading, here are a few more fun pics...
Salad Bar night at the home. We like to keep it healthy. |
Yes we ordered 6 rolls of sushi. Yes it came presented on a giant sailboat. Yes we ate it all. |
